Testimonials from past walkers of 'The Fox Way'

Dear Richard, We have recently completed 'The Fox Way' and would like to congratulate you on creating a wonderful walk. The route instructions were easy to follow and the additional information very useful. We did the route in three stages. Thanks for introducing us to parts of the Guildford area of which we were unaware - we remember the picnic lunch on the cricket field at Blackheath - sunshine, birdsong and wonderful mellow atmosphere - and also the stretch from Lydling Farm across the fields to Puttenham, glorious views and yet another picnic. Thank you once again. A & S B.

The Fox with Ultra Magazine The Fox is back for 2018! Your favourite event is back, and on 21 April 2018 we'll be running the course anticlockwise, just to shake things up a little! We've teamed up with ULTRA magazine again to bring you The Fox Ultra. A 60km circular ultra run route around Guildford. The route will be fully marked and offers 5 aid stops along the Fox Way. This scenic circular course was devised by Richard Fox, an avid local walker who was amazed by the beautiful and varied countryside he found along the route. Keen to share his findings, Richard set about signing and publicising his "Fox Way."

Dear Richard, I am writing to tell you how much I enjoyed walking The Fox Way. I have been handicapped in recent years by advancing coronary heart disease, culminating in a triple heart bypass operation. I am now well on the road to a full recovery. The Fox Way was just what I wanted: not too demanding, excellent public transport and a first class itinerary.

I was amazed by what the countryside around Guildford had to offer. Thank you for devising and documenting the walk. I am 'selling' it to a walking group from Basingstoke run by a friend. MB

Hi Richard, I just wanted you to know that we have finally done The Fox Way. I bought the book just after you published it but we haven't been child free until now and with enough spare time! Three walks in total during August using the train to link us up. It is a great walk and thank you for creating it. We thought we would know it all as we walk a lot around Guildford but the section from Worplesdon to Ripley was almost completely new as was the link between Bramley and the River Wey. FW.

In 2016 Girl Guide Leaders for SW Surrey walked the whole route in the same 7 sections as in the booklet. They were featured in The Surrey Advertiser.

Hi Richard, A friend and I ran around 29 miles of the Fox Way on Friday. We started at Worplesdon station and went clockwise. We cut out the Ripley corner by running down the A247 from Cartbridge to Clandon and continuing on the Fox Way from there. I found the written guide invaluable, and only a couple of times went very slightly off course. In the end, we ran out of time to finish back at Worplesdon, instead stopping at Wanborough station, having been on the move for around six and a half hours. It's a great route and I'm considering entering the Fox Way Ultra. It seems to have been a success in its first iteration earlier. JB
